Check this out. The picture above is a picture of two girls Nina and Miranda. When this picture was taken both of them lived in Kansas. Nina came to us from Kansas last year and began checking out the Uprising after she moved here. At the Uprising Nina began to experience community, truth, and growth that she wanted to share with her friends back in Kansas. Nina started a facebook group for her friends and began to share with them our online talks that we stream live on Wednesday nights during the school year. Miranda began watching and connecting with us as leaders asking questions and growing. Cat, one of our leaders, chats with Miranda weekly and through encouragement and discussion Miranda is taking her next step in baptism at the church she grew up in.

Our online live service has been viewed not just by Nina's friends in Kansas but in cities across the states. Technology has made it possible for us to communicate, inspire, and connect with our students here in Austin as well as abroad. There is so much more to utilize and run with as we seek to go where God is at in the mission of the Uprising. Pray for us and pray about partnering with us to reach this generation.

Cat's Story

"From the time I was very young I knew I was called to be in the ministry working with teenagers. I am inspired daily by the stories and struggles from the heart of teenagers. I love to see them laugh, joke, and dance. I love to see them show compassion. I am moved to tears almost on a weekly basis as I watch God pursue each one of them."

Summer Camp

"The Gathering (Uprising Small Group Community) is an amazing time to connect with the youth at our church that truly want to grow in CHrist. They want to learn more about him and how to live a Godly life. It is really a blessing to be a part of their growth. I am honored to be a leader at the Gathering. The youth teash me as much or sometimes more then I teach them! I just love these kids and being part of their lives!"

Fall Out Retreat

Every year we take students in the fall to a weekend retreat. We have great times enjoying activities, music, and discussions. Last year there were a lot of cool things that happened but one thing in particular that was a God send came at the end as we were leaving. I had not talked about baptism that weekend but one of our students who knew she needed to take the plunge came to us conveying that it was time. So in about 65 degree weather and in 50 degree water we stepped out. Another student seeing that the time was now also stepped out. This made for an incredible weekend. Your gift makes things like this happen. Thank you so much.

Jessica is one of our faithful leaders at the Uprising Here is her story.

"Working with the Uprising and serving high school students is not what I do to volunteer. It's my passion and my calling. You can see so many hurting adults and know how confused they are about how their lives are the way there are. They don't know that having a relationship with God is a blessing in the hear and now! It's not just a get-out-of-hell-free-card. And when I get the chance to share with my girls that God wants to meet them where they are at, in their high school, on the football field, at practice after school, or while they are just chilling with their friends, and that he wants to make their life more than just a 9-to-5 experience, that get's my adrenaline pumping."

Music is a powerful influence with students. We use music in our services to help break down walls and prepare students to hear truth and create opportunities for them to think in ways they have not thought of before. During our pain and addiction series one of our students, Chris Fraga, sang this song by Thousand Foot Crutch, This is a Call. We have done everything from Radiohead to Hillsong to help tell kids about Jesus. Thanks for helping us buy equipment and supplies to create experiences for our kids.

Bobby's Story

"I love coming to the Uprising and the Gathering. It's a place I know I won't be judge by people that matter to me. I can see my friends, worship, and be fed spiritually. I get to worship God how I want to. I meet amazing people and make great friends. I find accountability there, prayer for when I fall or am in need, family when I feel abandoned, and love when I don't deserve it."

"I like the Gathering (The Uprising's small group ministry) and the Uprising because of the very special spirited, welcoming, and growing young Christians I have met here. Mobile Skatepark

One Friday night before a concert we were lucky enough to be allowed to borrow a few pieces to a mobile skatepark. You've seen kids like this everywhere. They ride around looking for fun. We hope this year to be able to do this every Wednesday with equipment of our own. Take a look and realize there are hundreds of more kids just like these out in NW Austin who given the chance and some great conversations over time from caring leaders can come to know a wonderful Savior. Enjoy.
