I.   Summer Camp

Camp is an event that has and will continue to impact kids. It's a full week of taking students out of their environment and telling them about Jesus. This is where kids break destructive cycles and give God their lives. Camp is fun but more than that it is a launching pad for the next step and breaks down walls and defenses that our kids have. Our Volunteer Leaders give of their time and it is no vacation for them as they chase after these kids with everything they have.  We therefore use some of the money to pay for their participation. Each Camper fee is $250.00.

II.  Environment

We believe in providing an environment that tells kids we understand their world and love them enough to think about creating a place for them. Our middle school room needs a facelift. We want to create a look and feel students can be proud of and that speaks directly to them utilizing lighting and thematic decor..  It is our hope to add game stations where kids can hang out and have fun with each other as well as leaders before and after program services.

In addition to the middle school room we have an opportunity to seed the first phase of a mobile skate park. We would like to purchase four pieces that kids who skate, and there are hundreds in the area, can use. This has proven to create opportunities to connect with kids who normally would never darken the doors of a church. We see kids connecting to Christ through this Skatepark.

III.   Training & Internship

We must train our leaders, we will use a portion of the funds collected to take leaders to training events and give them the resources they need to enable them to pursue kids with increasing effectiveness. We would also love to offer a one year internship part time for one of our alumni desiring to go into ministry vocationally.

IV. Other items on our Wish list:

If possible we will purchase a portable sound cabinet and speakers for us to use to go into areas outside of Gateway to bring the Uprising to kids in downtown Austin, Cedar Park and Round Rock. We will create energy with events and programs in these areas where more kids can be found, by going to them.

We know coupled with spiritual efforts we can propel kids toward Christ. We live in a broken world and it has a constant impact on our lives and our future. We all need positive community and influence. We want you to know that we consider your donations an important investment and take this responsibility of stewarding these resources seriously.

Chad & Cat Swanzy, Student Ministries Pastor

I want to thank you in advance for praying for students and considering the opportunities ahead of us. This is my 15th year of full time youth work. I still never feel more alive than when I am telling kids about Christ and seeing leaders do the same. The future of the Uprising with multi-site ministry and the reality that kids will continue to experience pain and brokenness only presents unlimited potential. I am thrilled that you will partner with us in leadership, prayer, and resources. This is an investment far beyond this life.

Sincerely,

Chad & Cat Swanzy

At the start of the year I shared with leaders our ministry goals for 2009. In 2008 we were averaging 60-70 students in attendance 6-12th grade we saw an increase of 140-170 in attendance from this same time last year. 6 out of every 10 hihgh school students are in small group at the Gathering. We want to grow to 235 students by the end of 2009 and have four more small group communities launched. Each community averages 25-30 high school students. It is also a desire to double our volunteer leadership. We would love to talk to you about serving. Contact me.
